Shared Facilities

MRSEC Materials Characterization Facility (MCF)

The MRSEC Materials Characterization user facility is integrated with UCSD’s recently acquired S/TEM system. Including Raman, FTIR, photoluminescence, nitrogen adsorption, dynamic light scattering, zeta potential measurement, optical reflectance, x-ray powder diffraction, conductivity measurement, and soft matter characterization tools, the Facility provides access and training to the broader research community.

Shared Facilities Partners

Two major UCSD user facilities augment the MRSEC facilities

San Diego Nanotechnology Infrastructure (SDNI)

SDNI is one of 16 NSF National Nanotechnology Coordinated Infrastructure (NNCI) networked user facilites and both gives MRSEC access to broad suite of fabrication & analytical tools that accelerate research & translation and connects MRSEC to 100s of academic, national lab, DoD, industry and international users.

San Diego Supercomputer Center (SDSC)

SDSC is the leader data-intensive computing & gateways access to HPC resources Enables computational framework & tool development and dissemination.  SDSC coordinates with the NSF-funded Science Gateways Community Institute (SGCI) to establish web portals for MRSEC’s  Mesomaterials Design Facility.
